TIME OUT

How can you not attend something with a name as cool as Optronica?
THE GUARDIAN

Optronica was set up as a project to promote the work of audiovisual artists and visual music; its activities encompass curating and organising events with audiovisual performances, installations, screenings, commissioning work and releasing DVDs. Optronica was founded in 2004 by artists/producers Addictive TV and curators Cinefeel.

In collaboration with the British Film Institute, the team organised two large scale Optronica festival events in London. Venues included the bfi Southbank and the bfi IMAX cinema, with spectacular use of the giant screen and surround sound system providing an unrivalled technical and artistic setting for live shows, the National Theatre where the flytower was used for giant projections visible from across the river Thames, and London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA).

We’ve also teamed up with venues and partners in the UK abroad to present showcases of Optronica in Cologne at the C/O Pop music festival, at the Cork International Film Festival, the San Francisco Int’l Film Festival, AVmotional in Bucharest, and at the Tilt and Nemo festivals in France, to name just a few events. We also curated a six-month Optronica exhibition at the multimedia arts centre Le Cube in Paris.

Optronica’s debut audiovisual album releases will be in May 2010, from UK artists Robin Mahoney & Si Begg, The Mellowtrons and Exceeda.
